Privacy Statement
Permission Marketing and Communications Pty Ltd has created this privacy statement to demonstrate its absolute commitment to your privacy.
This document discusses the information gathering and dissemination practices for the website at
http://www.permission.com.au and for Permission Communications.
Our email ASP (application service provider) is DoubleClick. They are a member of the DMA (Direct Marketing Association) in the USA, CAUCE
(Coalition Against Unsolicited Commercial email), and TRUSTe. TRUSTe is an independent, non-profit initiative whose mission is to build users'
trust and confidence in the Internet by promoting the principles of disclosure and informed consent.
This statement discloses the privacy practices by which Permission Communications delivers its services to the marketplace. Knowledge of such
practices will empower users to make an informed decision about giving out their personal information.
This policy will help you understand the following:
- What information our email campaigns gather about you
- What the email campaigns do with the information they gather
- Who the email campaigns share the information with
What Permission Communications Does
Permission Communications delivers marketing campaigns, newsletters and product offerings via email for our clients as well as other various
online marketing and promotions such as sweepstakes competitions and online sampling. In the process of delivering these online marketing
services, Permission Communications recognises the URL that was clicked, and records some information about your computer, such as the
browser, operating system and IP address.
In some cases clients provide Permission Communications with information about the email recipients such as first name, last name, address,
as well as other demographics and psychographics. Permission Communications uses this information to target the email offer and make the
content more relevant by personalising the message.
Use of Cookies
DoubleClick uses a feature of your browser to set a "cookie" on your computer. This allows us to measure and report the:
- click through rate on emails delivered,
- pass-along rate (how many times an email recipient passed along the email to another person, and that person's email address only), and
- buy rate (if applicable)
It also allows Permission Communications to deliver email that is more relevant to the email recipient by tracking all emails sent to a specific
email address so that each email recipient is not bombarded by offers.
Cookies, by themselves, cannot be used to find out the identity of any user, as the cookie is stored without any identifiable or encrypted
information. If for some reason you would rather not take advantage of the benefits made possible with cookies, most browsers allow you
to reject cookies or to choose which cookies to accept on a case-by-case basis.
Security
Access to computer data and files at DoubleClick are secured by password protected services. Our network is protected by a firewall designed
to prevent unauthorised access.
Unsolicited Commerical Email (UCE) Policy
Permission Communications refuses to send out Unsolicited Commercial Email (UCE - otherwise know as "spam") on behalf of our vendors
or clients. UCE is email that is sent to a recipient that has not requested that the email be sent to him/her on a one time or repeated basis.
Permission Communications works with our ASP, their Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and our clients to maintain a suppression list of
email addresses that have opted-out of receiving any emails from Permission Communications no matter which client is sending the email.
Permission Communications carefully monitors the mailing lists we receive from clients to ensure the opt-out rate is low and that the amount of
replies to email from concerned or dissatisfied recipients (otherwise known as "flames") is very low (< 0.05% of recipients). When we encounter
a high opt-out rate and/or high amount of inbound email, Permission Communications discontinues the mailing and notifies the client of the
high rate of dissatisfaction. We work with our clients to determine whether there is a problem with the offer, the list(s) being used or some
other technical problem. If the list is deemed to be not opt-in, the campaign is discontinued until an opt-in list is used, and the list in question
is not used again.
Privacy Statement relevant to our Application Service Providers
In order to deliver best in market service levels and technologies, Permission Communications utilises the services of selected ASP's. These
ASP's may store database lists from our clients containing email addresses and other demographic information. A client's list is never shared
with any other clients. Confidentiality of the client list is a top priority.
Permission Communications' ASP's can track whether the email recipient supports HTML email in their email client, as well as whether an
HTML email message has been opened or previewed.
Information regarding the activity of email recipients is reported only to the client who deployed the email through Permission Communications.
Information about specific email recipients is only shared with the client who owns the list on which the email recipients email address originally
appeared.
Permission Communications does not sell or rent out the mailing list of our clients.
